This amazing woman has a heart of gold. She contributes much of her time, talents, financial resources, and her heart. She touches those who live close to her and those who live in far flung places .... like the Hauna Village people in Papau New Guinea. And yes, she touches the lives of those who love her most - her family!
My memories of growing up are centered around a loving home filled with laughter, good food, friends, and a Mom who would drop everything if there was a need that she could help with. I remember as a very young girl, about 5 or 6, I would watch my Mom walk out to the mobile home that was at our farm and served as the offices for the new rv company that she and my Dad started. She started her days loving & getting her children off to school, worked a long day at the office, then would come in the house to put a hot meal on the table. Please note that this was in a time & culture (especially our Conservative Mennonite culture) when women simply didn't work out of the home. Many evenings there were strangers who ate at our table and left as friends. She fed new Jayco dealers, customers who stopped by to pick up a brand new foldown, employees who had to work late, and the occasional door-to-door salesman. One of those "friends" still calls on me occasionally to sell me another set of encyclopedias or Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories Books. And he always asks how my Mom is doing!
My Mom's journey has not always been easy or pain free. In 1985 she buried her husband and her 16 year old son on the same day, as the result of a tragic airplane accident. Which then forced her into a position of leading a large company for a season of her life. She found love again with her second husband and has lovingly has cared for him for 17 years as he has struggled physically with the effects of a stroke. She has poured her heart & soul into the lives of persons who experience the pain of physical illness and mental illness, many times at the expense of her own health.
My Mom has set the standard high for me! Can I joyfully walk my journey and claim that "His Grace is Sufficient For Me"? Even when the road is rough?

Your words are a lovely tribute but the life you are leading is a great legacy. Your own children will write such glowing words of you one day. I am blessed and honored to call you friend.
Oh I knew that about your mom that she lost her husband and son on the same day...but wow! to read that and take it personal.....How DID she do that?? I wonder if she kept a journal during that time, and what kept her a float? Amazing lady! And amazing daughter to realize the value and love that you have for her. You are blessed.
